Clan Name: Kagemori Clan Symbol: (Depicted above) Clan History: The Kagemori clan has historically been a clan of artisans who, in some shape or fashion, have helped to supply armies in wars. The clan started with a boy Injoru, and his father, Shokame. Shokame's history is shadowed. Some say he was the son of Indra Ootsutsuki himself, though there is little to support that. Others say it was many generations later that he came to be, as an Uchiha or Senju or even a Hyuuga. Regardless of where his birth was in history, it is universally agreed upon that Kagemori's bloodright was power, as a descendant of the Sage of Six Paths - and it was power that he did not possess.
Not born with any innate skills that came with his clan - whatever that clan was - the legend says that the only reason Shokame was not expelled or banished from his clan due to uselessness, was because he fashioned weapons. He did not just make weapons, however - he was the first to truly do it well. And thus, Shokame became the father of the Steel Age, building the first man to make use of steel alloy in fashioning weapons and armor.
Shokame married well and taught this art to his son, Injoru. Injoru took well to his father's teachings. Though he understood very little of the technical aspects of what his father taught him, when placed in front of a forge with tools, Injoru somehow just knew what he was supposed to do. Through a few years of practice, Injoru mastered what took Shokame decades to even begin to comprehend, and his creations far outclassed those of his father. Eventually, Injoru learned that he could bestow properties upon weapons, armor, and tools that his father never could.
It started with armor that never rusted, or blades that never needed sharpened. Then it was swords sharper than what physics should allow. In his elderly years, Injoru was capable of producing weapons that could augment the elemental jutsu of those utilizing them.
And another like Injoru was not seen for at least another century. He left behind a fortune for his children, gathered by him and his father before him, and this created a want to protect his legacy. Over a few generations with a lack of these abilities, the Kagemori clan ran the resources gathered in Injoru's lifetime completely dry. They began arranging marriages, arranging that their children marry the children of gifted craftsman, hoping for Injoru's ability to resurface.
Eventually, it did. And the cycle was repeated. This individual learned his craft, perfected it, and the coffers were overflowing. But when he died, the fortune he built slowly dwindled. This cycle repeated for hundreds of years. Every few generations, someone possessing the Jigoku no Jizo resurfaces, and the clan returns to the top. And then they fade into obscurity yet again.
Devout historians link many artifacts to this clan. Though it's often rife with rumors and conjecture, many have drawn lines from the Kagemori to the Seven Swords of the Mist, the Sword of Kusanagi, even the Yata Mirror. In modern day, however, it has been so long since a Kagemori with Jigoku no Jizo has surfaced that it seems every single historian that doesn't believe the Kagemori are the originators of all ninja equipment with unique abilities instead believes they never had such an ability in the first place, and that they are nothing more than a collection of families who lie about their ancestry to cover up the fact that they are nothing better than mediocre at their craft.
What can your character change about this legacy?
Clan Size: A few families here and there throughout the Land of Fire and Land of Wind Clan Appearance: Kagemori tend to be tall with an athletic frame. Beyond that, they vary just as much as the rest of the human populace. Clan Location: Some in the Land of Fire, some in the Land of Wind. Clan's Reputation: Unknown, regional Kekkei Genkai:
Jigoku no Jizo (Hell's Forge)
Jigoku no Jizo is a Kekkei Genkai that shows up once every few generations within the Kagemori Clan. Those who possess this Kekkei Genkai are capable of creating weapons, armor, and ninja tools with unique properties and abilities that far exceed the capabilities of other craftsman. Holders of the Jigoku no Jizo, on character submission, can choose one of; weapons, armor, or tools; equipment and its derivative jutsu under that category created by that Jigoku no Jizo holder are treated as one rank higher; this cannot stack with traits. Additionally, those who possess Jigoku no Jizo can obtain equipment through it by spending a topic crafting it with a word count requirement of half what is required for an equivalently ranked jutsu. By writing the Word Count requirement differential between two ranks, an existing piece of equipment can be tempered, improved, and/or reforged such that it becomes a higher rank; it is possible for abilities to change slightly, so long as they still fit the same theme.
Clan Perks:
Warrior's Tradition: Members of the Kagemori clan get a free specialty in their choice of Kenjutsu, Bukijutsu, or Shurikenjutsu.
Clan jutsus: N/A
